We want you to be aware — and ready to act.
A coalition of education, civil rights, and disability advocacy groups has publicly condemned sweeping layoffs at the U.S. Department of Education. The cuts have hit core offices that protect students with disabilities, including OSEP (Office of Special Education Programs), RSA, OCR, and OESE.
These offices are central to enforcing laws like IDEA and Section 504, and their dismantling could leave many students without recourse when schools fail to provide legally required supports.
What we can do together:
-
Share this news with your network
-
Write or call your U.S. representatives and senators asking them to defend IDEA and restore these offices
-
Let’s make sure systems don’t fail the very learners we fight for
